Woods pond revisited

So after the abfab pics I got from Woods pond last week, I of course had to go back. At dawn...

"When was the last time you spent a quiet moment just doing nothing - just sitting and looking at the sea, or watching the wind blowing the tree limbs, or waves rippling on a pond, a flickering candle or children playing in the park?"
~Ralph Marston

I have not been an early riser for the past few years, how could I when I sit up reading about photography, or editing photo's or watching video tutorials on photography til the wee hours of night *smirk*. But I just had to see Woods Pond at dawn. I got my son off to school early and had my gear in the backseat as I drove there. Fearing the whole time that the sun was going to crest the mountain before I got there! Ahh but old Sol did not win that day. I got to the sweet spot I found last week, got my gear out, my tripod in place and waited... and waited... and waited... my feet turned numb, my breath turn my hair to frosty spider webs. The fish were jumping all over, but it was still too dark. The ducks were calling, birds I had never heard were cooing and cawing. And still I waited.

I had no idea that the mountain blocked the sun for THAT long! Granted I was right at the base of it! Finally I noticed the fog that made everything invisible most of the time I was there was beginning to thin and there... just over the mountain I saw a ray!

The fog kept moving in and out creating havok with my auto focus, I had to switch to manual most of the time and pray to God that they would be clear enough. Finally after several minutes of clicking away I was satisfied and went to the car to get my zoom lense out so I could shoot some of the wildlife on the far shore and saw the fog had moved to the road and the sun was shining down through the tree's...

The day had taken on a decidedly wonderful feel, I no longer felt the cold in my toes and I had actually forgotten my craving for a pot of coffee, at least for a few minutes! So I packed up my gear and finally grabbed breakfast and then headed to Ashuwillticook rail trail. I have only edited one pic from there so far, so there will be more to come. Please enjoy!

*edit* keep in mind the majority of my photos are edited to bring out their natural beauty.

Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower

So, the windows are closed now, except for brief periods where I am in a flurry of activity cleaning or the like. The fireplace has been going for the past couple weeks. The wood is stacked out back. A nip is in the air when I go out with the dog. I taste winter coming.

I *adore*... no even that is too subtle of a word, I cannot even think of how fall makes me feel... So alive, the crisp bite in the air when I awaken, rushing to push my feet into warm cozy slippers and a too thick robe. It puts a spring in my step as I do my daily chores. There is no time of the year that is quite as perfect as fall...

"The hazy, cloudless skies of Indian Summer. Leaves scurrying down the street
before the wind. The cold shiver from an arctic blast. Indian Summer. The last
warmth of the sun. Chilly mornings and glorious warm afternoons. The Harvest
Moon. The Hunter's Moon. The Rainy Season. Dry corn stalks clattering in the
wind. The touch of frost on grass and window pane. The smell of burning leaves."

Then there are the non fall pics... Here is another pic from "The Big E", a crafter had a huge display of Marionettes, yes, I wanted every one of them! They were so adorable!

Dark brooding clouds over the Berkshire Hills. Can't you feel the storm coming?

And last but not least we stopped to see the trains at the Lenox railway depot, wouldn't you know just as we pulled up they were closing. I asked the gentleman if it was ok if I just snapped a few pics quick and he said that if I wanted to park out on the road and let him lock up I could have the run of the place. Just to make sure not to play on the train tracks though cause the 4 o'clock had not come in yet hehe. So There will be lots more of the Berkshire Scenic Railway coming soon!

There will be more to come as soon as I get around to editing some more... Over 300 pics that day Oi!

Next is todays walks. We went through Pleasant Valley Nature Preserve this morning with the oldest son and then went down south county almost to Connecticut and then back up and over to October Mountain. So the following pics are just from all over south county Berkshires. Enjoy!
